‘What happened happened, attacks like Pulwama will keep happening…’, there was an uproar over these statements of Sam Pitroda before Inheritance Tax – Sam Pitroda Controversial Statements Congress 1984 riots Pulwama Attack Inheritance tax ntc factobox

Indian Overseas Congress President Sam Pitroda’s statement regarding inheritance tax is in discussion. BJP has once again attacked Congress due to his statement of advocating inheritance tax in America.

But this is not the first time that there has been an uproar over some statement by Pitroda. From time to time he has been giving such statements which have been controversial.

‘If 1984 riots happened then it happened’

Sam Pitroda had given a statement in the last Lok Sabha elections in 2019 regarding the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. On these allegations of BJP, Sikh riots took place at the behest of the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Calling it a lie, Pitroda had said, what now, 84? Talk about what you did in 5 years. Whatever happened in 1984, it happened.

There was a lot of uproar over his hua to hua statement during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. PM Modi had said in the Parliament in February 2024 that a leader of the Congress Party is sitting in America, who has become popular with his hua to hua statement. The Congress family is very close to him.

‘Middle class should not be selfish’

Sam Pitroda had given another similar controversial statement in April 2019 also. He had said during a TV interview that the middle class of the country should not become selfish and they should be ready to pay more taxes to fund the party’s proposed NYAY scheme.

Pitroda had said that the middle class will get more opportunities and employment. If the NYAY scheme is implemented, it may increase the tax burden on the middle class. In such a situation, the middle class should not become selfish. His statement had created a lot of controversy and senior party leaders had to engage in damage control.

,Attacks like Pulwama keep happening,

In February 2019, the Indian Air Force conducted an airstrike in Balakot, Pakistan, in response to the Pulwama attack. But Pitroda had raised questions on the claims of the Indian government on this airstrike. He had said that attacks like Pulwama keep happening. I don’t know much about these attacks. These happen all the time. There was an attack in Mumbai also. We could have reacted to this and sent our planes but this is not the right way. According to me you cannot deal with global problems like this. He also said that it is wrong to hold all the citizens of Pakistan responsible for the attack of a handful of people. He had also asked for evidence of Balakot airstrike operation from the Indian government.

‘Temples do not provide employment’

In June 2023, Sam Pitroda created political controversy with another statement. He had said that temples will not solve India’s problems like unemployment, education and health. There are problems like unemployment, inflation and education in our country. Nobody talks about them. But some people talk about Ram, Hanuman and temple. I have said earlier also that you will not get employment by building temples. Pitroda had given this statement in the presence of Rahul Gandhi in America.

What is Sam Pitroda’s latest statement?

Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had recently said in a statement that if his government comes to power after the elections, a survey will be conducted and it will be found out who has how much property. When Sam Pitroda was asked about his statement, he mentioned the inheritance tax imposed in America.

Pitroda said that there is inheritance tax in America. If a person has assets worth 100 million dollars. After his death, 45 percent of the property is transferred to his children while 55 percent of the property becomes the ownership of the government.

He said that this is a very interesting law. Under this, there is a provision that you have created a lot of wealth in your life and after your death, you should leave your wealth to the public. Not the whole property but half, which seems right to me. But there is no such law in India. If someone here has assets worth Rs 10 billion. After his death, his children get all his property, nothing is left for the public. I think people should discuss such issues. I don’t know what the outcome of this discussion will be. We are talking about new policies and new programs, which should be in the interest of the people and not just in the interest of the rich.
