Rashtriya Shoshit Samaj Party (RSSP), the political party of former Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Swami Prasad Maurya, has announced its candidate from Kannauj. The party has made Alok Kumar Verma its candidate from Kannauj Lok Sabha seat. In a post made from the social media handle of the party, it was said that Rashtriya Shoshit Samaj Party declares Alok Kumar Verma, son of Rambaksh Verma, former MP from Lok Sabha constituency-42, Kannauj as its candidate.
Let us tell you that earlier Samajwadi Party had announced candidates from Kannauj seat. Akhilesh has given ticket from Kannauj to his family member and Lalu Prasad Yadav’s son-in-law Tej Pratap Yadav.
There was confusion in the Samajwadi Party for a long time regarding the Kannauj seat and it was being said that SP chief Akhilesh Yadav himself could contest from this seat. However, it has now become clear that Akhilesh will not contest the Lok Sabha elections at present. He has fielded his nephew from his old seat.
Will compete with BJP’s Subrata Pathak
Tej Pratap Yadav from SP and Alok Kumar Verma from Rashtriya Shoshit Samaj Party will face BJP candidate and sitting MP Subrata Pathak in Kannauj. Earlier, there were speculations that Akhilesh himself would contest elections on this seat.
What is the mood of the voters of Kannauj?
Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh situated on the banks of river Ganga is a historical city. On 18 September 1997, Kannauj district came into existence by separating from Farrukhabad. According to the 2011 census, the total population of the district is 1,656,616. Kannauj parliamentary seat is made up of five assembly seats in three districts. These include three assembly constituencies of Kannauj district, Kannauj, Tirwa and Chhibramau. Apart from this, Rasulabad of Kanpur Dehat and Bidhuna assembly seat of Auraiya district are part of Kannauj Lok Sabha seat.

When Pintu Pal, who was making Jalebi at a shop in Kannauj, was asked what would be the election equation this time, he replied in just one word, ‘Pathak ji’. ‘Pathak ji’ means Subrata Pathak, the current MP of Bharatiya Janata Party from Kannauj and once again a candidate in the 2024 elections. But the opinion of the public eating jalebi at the shop was completely different from that of Pintu Pal. A person supporting Samajwadi Party said that ‘If Akhilesh Yadav contests elections from Kannauj, Subrata Pathak will not win’.
What did the perfume traders of Kannauj say?
Sanil Sanjay, a perfume trader from Kannauj, said, ‘Akhilesh Yadav should contest elections from here. This is his old throne. As a perfume trader, he wants exemption from tax on rose water and gulkand.
Rahul, who was found in the perfume factory, is still studying. When he was asked about the political equation in Kannauj, he said, ‘Everyone is going with the wave in Kannauj.’ He was asked whose wave it was? Rahul said, ‘Modi’s’. He said that if Akhilesh also contests elections from here, he will also lose. He praised the central BJP government for law and order, condition of roads and cleanliness.
