Samajwadi party chief Akhilesh Yadav likely to fight from Kannauj after party local unit from Kannauj urges NTC factobox

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav may contest from Kannauj Lok Sabha seat and Tej Pratap Yadav’s ticket may be cut. Such a possibility is being expressed because the local unit of the party has requested him to change the decision of fielding his nephew Tej Pratap Yadav from this seat. The final and official decision in this regard will be taken by the Samajwadi Party.

Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, while talking about the possibilities related to Kannauj, said that I will do whatever the people of Kannauj say.

Recently, while releasing the list, Samajwadi Party had announced candidates from Kannauj and Ballia seats. Akhilesh has given ticket to his family member and Lalu Prasad Yadav’s son-in-law Tej Pratap Yadav from Kannauj, while he has fielded Sanatan Pandey from Ballia.

There was confusion in the Samajwadi Party for a long time regarding the Kannauj seat and it was being said that SP chief Akhilesh Yadav himself can contest from this seat. However, this became clear when Akhilesh fielded his nephew from his old seat.

Who is Tej Pratap Yadav?

Tej Pratap Yadav’s father Ranveer Singh Yadav was the cousin of Akhilesh Yadav. He died at the age of 36. He was active in politics and was also the block chief. After that his wife Mridula Yadav also remained the block chief of Saifai. Tej Pratap’s wife Rajlakshmi is the daughter of former Chief Minister of Bihar and national president of Rashtriya Janata Dal, Lalu Prasad Yadav.

Tej Pratap has been MP from Mainpuri

If we talk about Tej Pratap Yadav, he has been an MP from Mainpuri. When Netaji Mulayam Singh Yadav contested from two seats Azamgarh and Mainpuri in the 2014 elections and won both the seats. After that he had left the Mainpuri seat, in the by-election on which SP had fielded Tej Pratap and he had reached the country’s largest Panchayat for the first time. However, Tej Pratap was not given ticket in the 2019 elections and Netaji contested from Mainpuri. After Mulayam Singh’s death, Dimple Yadav won the by-election on this seat.
